Bumble shares closed down more than 4% on Monday, and have fallen 38% year to date. Wolfe Herd said of her transition in a statement, "It's a monumental moment, one that has taken a great deal of time, consideration and care, for me to pass the baton to a leader and a woman I deeply respect.” She will take on a new role as executive chair when Jones becomes CEO.
Jones, previously at Microsoft and Salesforce in various executive positions, expressed her enthusiasm for Bumble's mission and her excitement to drive "long-term, sustainable growth" at the company. She has the backing of Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, who declared the appointment a "hugely-deserved achievement." Salesforce will announce Jones' successor at Slack on November 13.
