Defense Requests Postponement in Trial as Bankman-Fried Needs Adderall to Testify

Lawyers representing Sam Bankman-Fried, the disgraced FTX CEO, have argued that he needs immediate access to his regular dose of long-release Adderall in order for them to proceed with the criminal trial that could potentially incarcerate him for life. Last Sunday, Oct. 15, attorney Mark Cohen appealed to U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan, asking that Bankman-Fried receive his 12-hour extended-release 20mg dosage of Adderall on Monday morning, prior to his appearance for resumption of the trial at 9:30 A.M. This was supported by the claim that Bankman-Fried has an impaired ability to concentrate without his prescribed medication.Lawyers for imprisoned former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried have asked U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan for permission to administer his 12-hour extended-release 20mg dose of Adderall before Bankman-Fried is taken to the courthouse for his criminal trial. Without this medication, they have requested that court be adjourned on Tuesday to "find a solution that will work for the remainder of the trial". Bankman-Fried's psychiatrist, George Lerner, wrote in a previous letter that the former FTX chief would be "severely negatively impacted in his ability to assist in his own defense" without his antidepressant and ADHD medications. As there has been a nationwide shortage of Adderall, the drug used to treat ADHD, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has called on drug manufacturers to increase production.
