Elon Musk to Bring Tesla to India Soon: Modi's US Visit Prompts Announcement

Elon Musk, Chief Executive Officer of Tesla, has declared that the electric car producer will come to India with all possible speed. After conversing with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in the US on a state visit, he made some remarks. The Indian government declared that it had extended an invitation to Mr Musk to evaluate investment openings in electric transportation and the commercial space sector. Mr Musk indicated that he was in the process of ascertaining the most appropriate time to make the occurrence a reality. Days after Jack Dorsey, one of the Twitter co-founders, alleged India of warning to close down the social media site should it not comply with its directives to expunge certain material, Mr Modi held a meeting with Mr Musk, another proprietor of Twitter. In an interview with an independent news show, Mr Dorsey's claims were vehemently rebuked by the Indian government, with them terming it "an outright lie". On Wednesday, Mr Musk stated that Twitter had to comply with regional governments or face being shut down. He stated that they will strive to offer as much freedom of speech as is permissible by the law. Mr Musk stated his admiration of Mr Modi and expressed his opinion that India has the most potential of any major nation. Mr Modi is demonstrating his dedication to India by promoting investments in the nation, something Tesla is planning to do shortly. He expressed assurance that Tesla will make it to India at the earliest opportunity. Discussions have been taking place between Tesla and Indian political figures as the company seeks to make its mark in the Indian market. Last month, Reuters revealed that Tesla was proposing to establish a facility in India for the production of electric vehicles and was considering assembling the EV batteries there too. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, a federal minister, told the agency in May that the company was taking India very seriously as a source of production and innovation. The company had intended to begin operations in India last year, but the Indian government required Tesla to manufacture vehicles domestically, while Tesla wanted to first evaluate demand by exporting to India. Mr Musk expressed his desire to bring Starlink satellite internet service, operated by SpaceX, to India. He warned against premature declaration, but stated that there was a strong probability of a considerable investment in the connection with India. Mr Modi made his way to New York on Tuesday for a three-day state visit viewed as a milestone for India-US relations. He shall receive a formal greeting at the White House on Thursday prior to having a personal conversation with President Joe Biden. On Tuesday, a group of more than 70 US lawmakers sent a letter to President Biden, requesting him to raise human rights issues with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit. The letter expressed their apprehension about India's increasing religious bigotry, limits to press freedom, and persecution of civil society organizations.
