Esther Crawford, a former top Twitter lieutenant, published a long entry in which she both censured and lauded Elon Musk for his direction at the platform now referred to as X. Crawford, the previous Twitter Blue product manager, commented that the billionaire lives in an "echo chamber" yet also expressed admiration for his capabilities. The product manager was, to a certain degree, the embodiment of Musk's caprices at the social media company, which has experienced declines in advertising revenue since he took the organization private.
Former top Twitter lieutenant Esther Crawford said Wednesday that although Elon Musk has a terrific track record, he can be living inside an "echo chamber" and that she was "surprised by his willingness to burn so much down," as she divided her opinion in a long post published on the billionaire's platform. According to Crawford, who once slept in her company's offices until she was laid off weeks after, during her term working alongside Musk she often found him to be "quite alone because his time and energy was so purely devoted to work." She suggested that money and fame can further accentuate psychological traumas and conditions.
Though there was criticism, Crawford also defended Musk and his role in launching Twitter Blue, noting that his temper could "turn on a dime" and that people working around him were afraid of receiving calls or relaying negative news. She said that she believes Musk's outstanding skill in tackling physics-related problems is countered by his lack of process and empathy. Nonetheless, she claims it would be hard to write him off completely.
In concluding her post, Crawford wrote that she couldn't be associated with any extreme stance of either loving or hating each of Musk's changes, mentioning her break away from fundamentalism.
