How to Control Your iPhone Hands-Free

Your iPhone has an accessibility feature that allows you to control your device without requiring the use of your hands. This feature can be used to pay your credit card bills, scroll on apps, and browse the web. Additionally, Voice Control and Siri can be used in tandem to maximize the benefit of these features. You can complete tasks like paying your credit card bill, browsing social media, and looking for food recipes on your iPhone without actually touching the screen. This is because of the accessibility tool called Voice Control, which takes Siri's hands-free capabilities even further. Apple is making a greater effort to make its phones more accessible for those who have impaired vision or hearing, but there are many benefits that all users can get from these features. For instance, by activating Voice Control and saying "Show numbers," you will be able to see every clickable spot on the screen that can be selected by speaking out the corresponding number.Paying billsI tested the limits of Voice Control and was able to use it to pay my credit card bill without picking up my phone. However, it was finicky when I tried to make a custom payment amount instead of paying the statement in full. Setting up Siri for credit cards also requires an Apple Cash account.Automatic scrollingVoice Command has several built-in voice commands, such as "scroll" or "swipe," for scrolling up, down, right or left. It sometimes glitches, but I found it worked correctly for scrolling through Instagram, Food Network, and other applications.Miscellaneous usesVoice Command is customizable, allowing users to create their own uses. For example, you can make a custom vocal instruction to type in your password in case you're unable to use Face ID to unlock your phone. I found it also worked well for Google Flights, ESPN, and articles. Why not just use Siri?Although Siri and Voice Command can do many of the same functions, I found the latter was better for more granular or exploratory purposes. I used Siri to turn my phone on and off and the Siri recognition ability to activate Voice Command, then used the latter for other functions. How to turn on Voice ControlGo to Settings, scroll down to Accessibility, select Voice Control, and press the dot in the top right to turn it green. I recommend reading the Voice Control guide as well, which is below the green dot.LimitationsVoice Command does allow users to type with their voice but that part of the feature is still not very user-friendly. Numbers next to the letters change as you type, which can slow down the process of typing words. For better results, move your cursor to a text box and say the words out loud.
