Meta Introduces Chatbots with Human-Like Characteristics

Meta has unveiled a set of fresh chatbots for their Messenger platform. The chatbots will feature "personality" and will be experts when it comes to specific topics, such as holidays or culinary advice. It is the newest contribution in the competition between tech companies to create more precise and personalized artificial intelligence through chatbots. Boss Mark Zuckerberg stated that the chatbots still possess "limitations" and are thus still being refined. At his first in-person event in California since prior to the pandemic, Mr Zuckerberg declared that it had been an "extraordinary year for AI". The firm has dubbed its principal chatbot "Meta AI" and it can be employed in messaging. For example, people can pose questions in chat to Meta AI "in order to resolve disputes" or inquire further. The BBC has yet to conduct tests on the chatbot, which is built using Llama 2 - the large language model released by the company in July for public commercial use. Famous personalities such as Snoop Dogg and Kendall Jenner have agreed to be featured in the various chatbot applications. The objective is to develop chatbots that are capable of more than simply responding to inquiries. Zuckerberg declared that responding to questions was not the only purpose of this endeavor, noting that it would also be a source of entertainment. Meta has reported that NFL star Tom Brady will take on the role of an AI character referred to as 'Bru', an amusing sports debater, and YouTube sensation MrBeast will appear as 'Zach', a brother-like figure who is known for his teasing. Zuckerberg commented that the bots still have "numerous restrictions" in regards to what inquiries they can address. In the near future, chatbots will be available exclusively in the US. Mr Zuckerberg talked about the metaverse -- a virtual world -- which he has invested tens of billions of dollars in to date. At the event, Meta provided more information on its recently announced Quest 3 virtual reality headset. Meta's boss classified the headset as the primary "commonly accepted" blended reality headset. Cameras with a forward facing direction signify that the headset will provide augmented reality. It will go on sale beginning on 10 October. Despite a large, enduring investment in the metaverse, there has yet to be a return on the Meta corporation's virtual reality sector, with losses of $21bn (£17bn) reported since the start of 2022. Following Apple's introduction of the Vision Pro into the more expensive mixed reality hardware market this year, they launched the Quest 3. Day, who serves as global gaming strategy director for EssenceMediacom, stated that Mark Zuckerberg had "instilled fresh life" into the VR industry. Meta's VR roadmap is now focused on creating hardware priced for the general public, which is completely different from Apple's tactic of targeting the high-end tech fanatics, he remarked. Meta released a statement on the same day OpenAI, the Microsoft-supported developer of ChatGPT, affirmed its chatbot can now explore the internet to give users with up-to-date information. The AI-fueled system had previously been instructed only utilizing data till September 2021.
