Many suspected Microsoft would use its influence to gain a larger portion of the gaming industry following its Activision Blizzard acquisition, yet these apprehensions have been appeased by the recent deal. Sony had worries about the arrangement's impact on the gaming world as recently as last month.Microsoft and Sony have reached a binding agreement to ensure Call of Duty remains available to PlayStation consumers following the conclusion of Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard.A Microsoft spokesperson indicated the deal provides long-term assurance that Call of Duty will remain available across platforms and accessible to a wide range of consumers.Microsoft vice chair Brad Smith also noted the company's continued commitment to making the game available to a greater number of people on more platforms.Despite initial anti-competitive concerns, regulators in the EU and U.K. signed off on the deal, with the latter also agreeing to negotiate conditions with Microsoft. The two companies are aiming to complete their transaction by Tuesday, July 18.
