Rare Apple Computers Available for $50,000

Auction house Sotheby's is offering a pair of uncommon Apple sneakers for $50,000 (£38,969). These shoes were specially made for employees in the 1990s and were handed out as a special gift at a conference. This is the first time a pair has been released to the public. Sporting a predominantly white leather upper, the highlight of the sneaker is the vintage rainbow Apple logo featured on the tongue and adjacent to the laces, which has been suggested by Sotheby's to be "highly coveted". The retailer referred to the sneakers as "one of the most uncommon ones out there", emphasizing their lack of availability and the higher price they could fetch on the secondhand market. Despite being "new in the box", the Omega x Apple sneakers are described as having some imperfections, such as yellowing around the midsoles. This pair of shoes has an air cushioning window in the heel and a US size 10.5, a European size 41 or a UK size 8.5. The box also includes an alternative set of red laces. The worth of Apple memorabilia has been increasing steadily, with many of its antique devices becoming sought after collectibles and fetching high prices - however, it has not all been a success. A traditional video game console called Pippin, the ill-fated social network Ping, and the Newton MessagePad, which was labeled a flop, were all heavily overpriced. At a recent auction in the US, a first edition, unopened 4GB iPhone sold for more than $190,000 (£145,000). Despite its notoriety as a developer of gadgets and inventions, Apple has, on occasion, made clothing and accessories available to tech enthusiasts. A clothing line with the Apple collection featured the rainbow logo and Macintosh computer imagery, such as t-shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, and hats. Its purpose was to intensify the Apple reputation and build a collective atmosphere - however, it was not successful and was eventually terminated. This article contains content provided by Twitter.
