Registering for Threads, Meta's Alternative to Twitter

Meta will officially launch Threads, its text-based Twitter alternative, on Wednesday night. You can already view your invitation though. Go to Instagram, type in the word "Threads" into the search bar, and you should observe a small ticket icon to the very right. Tap that to view the invite. In case the ticket icon fails to appear in the search bar, also try accessing your invitation from the three bars situated on the upper right of your profile. Once you hit the bars, there should be an option for "Threads". Search "Threads" and click on the Threads update post. Meta will officially release its text-based Twitter competitor, Threads, on Wednesday night. But those who desire to get ahead of the launch will be able to access their invitation right away. This news comes after Elon Musk tweeted that Twitter would temporarily reduce the number of tweets users can view. This in turn caused a rise in usage of apps similar to Twitter, such as Bluesky, which is owned by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey and had "record-high traffic" on Saturday. What is different with Threads, minus the fact that users need to have an Instagram account, is that it does not restrict users like Bluesky does. It is expected to launch in the U.S. on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET, while those in the EU will need to wait a bit. If you're interested in trying it, here's what to do: Step 1: Open the Instagram app and search for "Threads". Once you locate the Threads updates post, click on it. Type "Threads" into the search bar and you will see a small ticket emoji on the right side. Next, click the "Admit One" ticket and you should be able to view your invite. This invite includes your username, the Threads launch date and time, a QR code, a numeric code and a "Get Threads" button located at the bottom of the screen, which leads you to the App Store. Even though Threads is listed in the App Store, it can't be downloaded yet. To access the invite, go to your profile and tap the three lines on the top right of your profile. If a ticket doesn't appear in the search bar, you will be taken to the invite. The Threads drop-down menu will have a "Threads" option at the top. Click on that to view your invitation. Your username for Threads is presently the same as your Instagram username, however it's uncertain whether you can modify it. This info will become available when the app is officially released on Wednesday.
