CNBC and independent research firm Statista collaborated to create a comprehensive list of the top 200 fintech companies worldwide, such as Ant Group from China, and Klarna from Sweden. Over 1,500 companies across nine separate market segments were evaluated on factors like revenue, user numbers and total funding raised to decide the ranking. Notable names on the list include Ant Group, Tencent, PayPal, Stripe, Klarna and Revolut, as well as some budding startups that will shape the future of financial services. There are nine categories including neobanking, digital payments, digital assets, digital financial planning, digital wealth management, alternate financing, alternate lending, digital banking solutions, and digital business solutions. This database can be searched by country, category or company name to see who made the cut.
Statista undertook a quantitative analysis of the global fintech market, assessing more than 1,500 companies, with over 10,000 data points, across nine categories. To account for the differences in business models, CNBC issued a public call for nominations in March, offering companies the chance to showcase their business model, revenue, transaction volumes, and other key information. In order to score the companies, Statista developed a model that calculated their performance against general and segment-specific KPIs. Five to forty companies were then chosen for each market segment, with the highest scorers making the top 200 list. For an in-depth look at the categories and standout trends, click here.
