The streaming segment was profitable in the first half of the year and is projected to remain so for the full year.Previously known as HBO Max, the app underwent rebranding in May as the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery materialized. Moreover, a deal was inked earlier this month with AMC Networks to make available for two months over 200 episodes of recent shows. Then, CEO David Zaslav announced they would shortly add sports and news to the app, which eventually became a reality with the upcoming launch of the B/R Sports Add-On tier and the CNN Max 24/7 live news hub on September 27.Currently, Max's ad-free tier costs $15.99 a month, with the cheaper option featuring commercials being $9.99 a month, and Warner Bros. Discovery executives have admitted to the potential of future price hikes.
